X-Men 3 Character List
Before you begin reading the so-called 'character list' for X-Men 3 below be warned that if some of the information is true you will find the details given to be very SPOILERIFIC.

Wolverine- Wolvie will get a lot of screen time in this movie, about as much as he did in the last two. However, in this film he doesn't focus so much on his past. Wolvie has a strong friendship with Storm but does not share the same love for her as she expresses for him. Wolverine first goes to Alkali Lake to check up on Cyclops who is mourning the death of Jean. But of course before he does this, he has a drink of whisky at the bar he was in during the opening scene in X1. The same bartender played by Doug Lennox is there and he has an awkward yet humorous moment with Wolverine. Wolverine will also spy on the brotherhood and have a ferocious fight with the Multiple Man who multiplies himself and almost kills Wolverine but the army interferes and kills MM. Also he is in the Danger Room scene which is the opening scene in the film. He is split with Storm in this scene and has an awesome battle. He does a cannonball special and claws an enormous Sentinel midway through the battle. Also he battles Juggernaut where he is thrown from a window in Jean's old neighborhood. He also is a part of the final battle which I am not revealing that much about yet.

Storm- Storm has so much more to do in this film than she did in the last two films. She flies, she dives, and she spins. She also creates Tornados, lightning, hail, rain, and snow multiple times during the film. Not only does she do that, but she renews her place at the passenger's seat in the X-Jet. Storm has a passionate love for Wolverine. She is also very glad to see the former X-Men member Beast again once he joins the team. This a love triangle because Beast has renewed his childhood crush for her. Storm also is in the Danger Room sequence and she explains everything about it to Wolverine just before they enter the room. Also Storm battles Sunfire (Ken Leung) and Arclight (Omayra Mota) in Jean's neighborhood. And she faces Phoenix in the final battle.

Rogue- Rogue has a decent part in this film. She hates Kitty because of the affair Kitty is having with her boyfriend Iceman. It is a great love triangle. Unlike the first 2 films Rogue is barely seen with Wolverine. Rogue is very tempted to take the cure but ultimately decides not to near the end. Rogue gains the super strength power for a moment after touching Juggernaut and she throws him in the final battle. Roue also fights in the Danger Room sequence and is split with Colossus during the scene.

Iceman- Iceman takes his ice powers to the maximum level in this film. He does not "ice up" but he does use his iceslide during the Danger Room sequence when he is split with Kitty. Iceman has a love affair with Kitty during this film and he builds an ice fountain for her. Iceman fights Pyro in the final battle.

Kitty Pryde- Kitty's main part in this film is having a love affair with Iceman. Kitty joins the X-Men after a class taught Xavier near the beginning of the film. She runs through tons of walls in the Danger Room sequence. She also has a small part in the Final Battle. She also is god friends with Colossus.

Jean- Jean has an extremely large role in this film. She switches from god to evil to believing that she is a little girl throughout this film. Remember last film when Jean dies saving her fellow X-Men? Well it turns out she is not dead and ad rises from Alkali Lake. When she does that she is seen by Cyclops. She talks to him and tells him to remove him to remove his glasses. It is a touching scene... until Cyclops moleculeized into the air. Yes she kills him but when she does she used too much power to hold in Cyclops's eye beams from shooting, so she faints. Wolverine finds her on the ground and Cyclops's ruby glasses floating in the air. They take her to Xavier's medical room where she awakes and Wolvie tells her what she did to Cyclops. She escapes and goes to the neighborhood she lived in as a child. Xavier, Wolverine, Storm, and Magneto go after her. Mags joins with them because he was there when they first met Jean as a child and Jean believes that she is still a kid at this point in the film (kinda corny huh?). Well secretly Magneto brought along a few new members of the brotherhood and he knocks out Xavier. After he does this Jean somehow turns back into regular Jean. Magneto then tells her about how Xavier put mental blocks into her head to limit her power. Back to evil Jean. Jean then brutally kills Xavier who is lying knocked out on the floor. She then becomes a brotherhood member and is renamed by Magneto, Phoenix. She helps destroy Golden Gate Bridge and also has a pivotal part in the final battle.

Beast- Beast has a large pivotal role in X3. He is the secretary of mutant affairs so he meets with the president a few times during the course of this film. He is very much against the mutant cure that has been issued lately by Warren Worthington II (Michael Murphy) and Worthington's Indian assistant Kavito Rao (Shohreh Aghdashloo). Also on the mutant affairs board is a man named Senator Trask (Bill Duke). Trask supports the cure 100% and he also highly supports the use of the mutant hunting Sentinels. Beast knows that this cure will form into a disease in mutants called Legacy Virus. The Legacy Virus is a fatal disease. He decides to rejoin Xavier's team of mutants called the X-Men. He was the first student of Xavier's and is glad to see Storm an old companion but he is sad about the death of his former friend Cyclops and he is puzzled by Jean's return. Beast says some witty joke and he has an interesting relationship with Wolverine during the film. He helps the X-Men fight in the final battle.

Colossus- Colossus has a much larger part in this film. He joins the X-Men with Kitty near the beginning of the film. He also is in the Danger Room sequence where he throws Wolverine during a fastball special at a Sentinel. Colossus metals up quite a few times and he fights Juggernaut in the final battle. Colossus is bisexual in the film and he has crushes on both Rogue and Wolverine. He acts kind of like a big brother towards the other students.

Mystique- Mystique has a small yet fabulous part in this film. She is taken from the forest where the brotherhood hide out in this film and she is locked into an interrogation room with office officials and they test the cure on her. But Mystique does put up a fight. She knocks out and kills many officials with handcuffs on. Later Magneto comes to Alcatraz where she is and finds her. She is still a mutant. He has a touching scene with her but she becomes human and momentarily dies right before his eyes.

Magneto- Magneto is a even more powerful in this film than he was in the last 2 films. He first rescues many mutants from Alcatraz. Many of these mutants have deformed mutant features and are dubbed Morlocks. The leader of the Morlocks is named Callisto (Dania Ramirez) and she gladly joins Magneto's brotherhood of mutants. He then leads an attack on Golden Gate Bridge and he brutally murders many humans. He then leads the brotherhood back to the remains of the Golden Gate bridge where the final battle occurs.

Juggernaut- Juggernaut is a mutant that Magneto rescues from a containment cell in Alcatraz. He wears a helmet similar to Magneto's because he is Xavier's stepbrother. Juggernaut kind of acts like a bodyguard towards Magneto during the film. Also Juggernaut has some corny one liners. Juggernaut breaks through Xavier's mansion at one point during the film.

Pyro- Once Pyro joins the brotherhood he gets a wrist shark and some type of tank inside of his sweater to use his powers freely. He is trained a bit by Sunfire to learn to use his fire powers.

X-Men 3 Title and Synopsis
After searching the web for any type of confirmation on this report I came across thexverse, who had a confirmation direct from Fox.

A publicist for 20th Century Fox has confirmed to us that the rumored title for X-Men 3, "X-Men: The Last Stand", is currently being cleared for usage. The title also appeared in a review of 2006 films by USA Today, lending further support to the notion. Should everything be cleared within Fox, the film will officially be known as X-Men: The Last Stand. The title sounds pretty good, even though it does sound a little similar to 'The Last Film.'

Besides the updated title, TrekWeb.com has posted the synopsis for the novelization of X-Men: The Last Stand. Warning- Spoilers below:

The X-Men, mutant heroes sworn to defend a world that hates and fears them, are back! This time, with the help of new recruits The Beast and Angel, they must face evolution itself in the form of their former teammate, Jean Grey! Possessed with the cosmic power of the Dark Phoenix, the resurrected Jean Grey has become a danger to herself, her mutant comrades, and the entire planet! To stave off this imminent threat to humanity, a potential cure is discovered and processed to treat -- and ultimately eliminate -- genetic mutations, once and for all! Now, as the battle lines are drawn, the X-Men, led by Professor Charles Xavier, must contend with both Jean Grey's world-consuming powers, as well as the malevolent Brotherhood, a band of powerful mutants organized under Xavier's former ally, Magneto!

Here's a press confrence hosted by WB that Joblo's gang was able to get in on in their recent set visit for X3

Brett, with Rush Hour you built your own franchise from the ground up. X-Men: The Last Stand is something really different. You joined a train as it was well underway????????????

Ratner: Jumped on the bandwagon????????????

Why? What did X-Men mean to you and why did you want to come aboard at this last hour?

Ratner: Well, I was such a fan of the X-Men series. I was talking about this with Hugh the other day and he said, "You probably made history! You've directed more movies with a three at the end of them than any other." And even though Red Dragon didn't have a three in it, it was the third in a series. But the benefit I had with Red Dragon was that I had three different movies that existed ????????????????????????" Manhunter, Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs ????????????????????????" that were in the same genre, but three very different movies.

More so with this movie, I had two films that existed with one director, which created a fantastic tone, with some of the best actors in the world. I thought, "Oh, this is going to be an easy job." Little did I know???????????? we're here in December in Vancouver , in the freezing cold. But the truth is, I'm such a big fan of what was established, and I knew that if I stuck to the tone of the other movies and to the formula ????????????????????????" and we had all the actors coming back ????????????????????????" that it was going to be so much fun for me, and a huge challenge by the way, because I've never done a huge visual effects movie before.

Can you pinpoint a specific element that you put your personal stamp on once you came aboard?

Ratner: Yeah, like I said it's been very important to me to stick to the tone that Bryan and the actors have created and my input really has been just trying to make a more emotional film, a film with more heart and more pathos. So I wanted to try and tell a story and act as if this is a trilogy and this movie is the third in a series and go in there and not re-invent it, not make it a "Brett Ratner film," but stay with the formula that's worked in the past and add more heart. I'm a very emotional guy. I like heart, I like feeling something in a movie and the audiences care about these characters so much that it was important to me to try and stray true to who they were and not try to re-invent it.

Hugh, this will be the third time you've played Wolverine. How do you maintain your enthusiasm for the role? How do you keep it going?

Jackman: Well, I think???????????? Ian's been doing it a little longer than me, the acting business, but I've been acting for ten years, and you get a sense when you're in a role and you have a movie with a story that you don't want to let go of. You see X-Men 1 and 2 and as soon as they're finished, you think, "We have unlimited movies with these characters." The actors can go any which way, and for me as an actor, it's an amazing part. I think that Wolverine, not just in the comic book genre, but also in any kind of action movie, is one of the great parts.

And I love playing him and it's a challenge and with Brett on board????????????he pulled all the actors aside and said, "Our job is not only to round out the series, because we're paying off things which have been sown in X1 and X2, deliberately ????????????????????????" and we're getting to pay them off now ????????????????????????" but not only are we getting to round it out, but we're getting to take the stakes much higher than they've ever been, emotionally we're getting to go much further than we've ever been." So it's a challenge. For me, if you're going to play and role and do it again, you want to do it better. You want to take it further and want to show more and I think we have the best script to start with of any of the three, so really that's the long answer to say that it was easy for the passion to be there. And I feel blessed to have the role.

For each of you, how have your characters changed between the second and third films, not only in terms of powers, but also personality?

Berry: Well Storm has one now! (laughs) The movie for me is still very much an ensemble, which is one of the things I really love about it, and why I love working on X-Men. But this time my character ????????????????????????" not that she's there any more than she ever was ????????????????????????" but when she's there, she????'???
?????????????????????????'???????????????? ?s really saying something, she has a definite point of view. And that's been really wonderful for me and I know that Brett has been instrumental in making that happen. He always wondered, "Well, what the heck is Storm doing?" So he's really been a supporter of that. I've struggled with finding a voice for the character over the years, but not really sure what voice Storm was taking from the comic books ????????????????????????" because it didn't always materialize in the script for me but this time it definitely does.

Ratner: And she gets to fly in this one!

Berry: And I get to fly! That's another Brett Ratner????????????yeah, I do get to fly this time.

McKellen: I don't think my character changes. I think he stays much as he was before. It's the eternal argument between the two people involved in civil rights, whether they are Malcolm X and Martin Luther King or Magneto and Xavier. That's the theory, at any rate. So basically, that's the story being re-told as it's re-told in the comics. I think Magneto's very much as he was: a troubled???????????? I've been asked what's it like to play a villain but I've never met an actor who thought of a character he was playing as a villain.

It's boring???????????? I feel he's a meta-villain. There are lots of villains going around in the world, people doing stupid things. But to say they're villainous? They might be villainous, but a villain? If there's no motive for their behaviour????????????Magneto's got plenty of motive, and attitude and political nous, you might think he's doing the wrong thing, but you'll probably come the worst of any argument with Magneto on this issue. Unless you were a mutant, of course.

Jackman: He's a little sexier in this one, though.

McKellen: I wanted to keep that as a surprise.

Did you feel the need to make Brett feel comfortable?

Jackman: Brett is the most fearless man you're ever going to meet. He came on fairly late and said to me, "I'm thrilled because I'm inheriting a great script. It's a great jumping-off point." And he was, like, "Let's go!" right from the beginning, so Brett????????????if you go to a party, Brett's the last guy you need to make sure if he's okay and if he needs a drink. He takes over and runs the place pretty much on his own very quickly. I think what's great about Brett is that he's very much at home on a movie of this size and this scale, in every way. I don't feel that you're daunted by it. I don't know if you have any secret fears, but I think he's enjoyed being with the cast and we've enjoyed having him.

Ratner: When I'm alone in the bathroom occasionally, I throw up. (laughs) But no????????????

McKellen: People probably think, "Oh, I know what happens with these things." Well, I'm not going to use that dreadful "F" word that you used about the film, these are films. And to call them a franchise, as if we're in the business of just making money, I think is an insult to everyone involved, including the audience. We're telling a very important story. And because we're telling it with the same characters three times over just means that the story is worth telling three times over.

If you??????????????'???????????????
???????????????????re looking for a totally different view of X-Men ????????????????????????" which would be possible ????????????????????????" our view of X-Men is quite other than the style of the comics and of the TV spin-off. So it would be possible that Brett would be going way down off the Singer path and (points to Ratner) I've been very impressed that you decided that you didn't want to do that because you'd enjoyed so much what Bryan had done. But we've had the advantage of a script that we all agree is superior from the start out to the previous two and has a very intriguing hook that gets you involved immediately and emotionally with the characters.

But we had the advantage, this being the third time around, of not having to introduce everybody. No wonder Storm didn't have much to do ????????????????????????" there were 20 people all fighting to get on the screen. I think things have relaxed a little bit, haven't they? And it's a little bit more indulgent and Magneto has a bit more to say than he did in the last movie.

Brett, should this film be looked at as the third part of a trilogy, or as just another story in a continuing series of stories?

Ratner: Well, you know, because I feel so reverential towards the first two, I'm not re-inventing anything that's already been done, but I am informing some back story that maybe you hadn't seen, but helps make more sense of the first two, and we are paying off some of the arcs of the characters and resolving some of the arcs. I don't think it's the final arc to be done. I think there's a lot of opportunity to go further with it.

Because I'm referring to the first two movies, because I'm making sure that we're consistent with the first two movies as far as the characters are concerned ????????????????????????" what they want ????????????????????????" Bryan and these actors have created the universe and there are these rules that come with that universe. And I'm not going outside of those rules but I am looking to show the audience something that pieces it all together, like, "Oh! That's why in the first movie, they were in this location????????????" so it kind of all pays off and so in that sense it is a trilogy. I'm not saying that Fox wouldn't make a fourth or a fifth X-Men.

McKellen: And it can be quite unnerving when you're just going about your business of acting and a director comes along and says, "Don't you remember what you did in the first film?" Gandalf intervened and I don't remember! (laughs) So you have been bringing us back all the time, sometimes like a schoolteacher with naughty children.

Ratner: It's like d?????????????j????????????? vu for me, except I wasn't there the first two times! It's so weird.

Are you deliberately setting things up in this movie that might be paid off further down the line?

Ratner: Well, you know, see???????????? I don't have a contract to do X4 and it depends on the performance of this movie if they ask me to come back, which is the reality. But the truth is that I am introducing some characters that I know Fox are gonna go, "We gotta put that???????????? Kitty Pryde in X4!" Or I'm introducing little things that, whether I know I'm doing it or not, I just love planting these little seeds. And bringing things into this movie that for some reason or another, Bryan wasn't able to bring in. (Things) that only the hardcore fans would know about, that wouldn't make a difference to the average moviegoer but, for instance, like the Fastball Special. I don't know if I can talk about that, but stuff like that, that the fans are gonna be cheering that for one reason or another they didn't make it into X1 and 2.

Hugh ????????????????????????" obviously from film to film, your confidence has grown. What effect does that have on your character?

Jackman: As an actor? Well, I hope like in anything in life, the more shots you have at it, the more you learn and the better you get. So I don't want to set myself up for failure, but hopefully as an actor I can bring more to it. I have an interesting progression for the character in this one in that he's archetypally the reluctant hero, and much of it has been, will he join the X-Men? Will he be part of it? And it's not so much the case in the third one, but more of, what role will he play? Will it be an issue of leadership or not, will he be a real team player? It's not so much, is he part of the team. That's kind of a given here, but what role will he play? There's a lot at stake in this movie. There's going to be a lot of shocks in store for the fans.

McKellen: For those of us who get really close to Wolverine, we have to admit that his hair is getting even more gorgeous.

Brett and Halle, what kind of story arc did you want to put in for Storm?

Ratner: Well, as Halle said, when I met her the first time I said, "There wasn????'??????????
??????????'?????????????????t really a huge presence for you in this movie as far as a personality was concerned," and I wanted to really define who you were and give you a point of view. Because there are two issues in this movie. There are political issues and emotional storylines and I wanted to define where you stand in these issues, this character.

And I just love photographing Halle Berry, so I wanted to put her in the movie as much as I could! But for her, to give Halle a lot of credit, when we first talked, she was like, "Look, I don't care about giving me a lot of dialogue, but when I'm on screen, I want it to matter, I don't want to just be there." So I kind of went through the script and looked at the opportunity of enhancing her character and giving her more of a point of view and a perspective and a purpose. It's hard, like everyone said, to pay off 20 different characters in a film, but Halle, I think, understands more going into it: who she is, what her reason for being in each scene is.

Because when there's 20 people standing around, it's hard to????????????that's the hardest thing, to just stand around listening and not knowing what you're doing, what's your point of view. So at least in her mind ????????????????????????" I'm speaking for you ????????????????????????" at least she understands what the purpose and her motivation is in each scene.

Is there a romantic thing involving Storm?

Ratner: With me? No. (Laughs) I can't divulge that. No. You'll see. Fans of her character are going to be excited because she has much more to do, and as for physicality, this is one of the most beautiful women in the world and I wanted to take advantage of that and shoot her in a way that's exciting.

Brett, you referenced political issues, and I'm intrigued that chief among them in this story is an issue that really triggers something that's massive in the X-Men universe, and that's the notion of a cure ????????????????????????" if you don't want to be a mutant, you don't have to be. How do you feel about it. Ian, starting with you????????????

McKellen: Marvel will tell you that they like X-Men more than any of their other titles because it appeals specifically to three groups. The demographic is young blacks, young Jews and young gays. They identify themselves more than most, although perhaps all teenagers consider themselves as mutants in that they are perhaps ill-treated by the rest of society for a time, for no good reason. And as a gay man, the idea that someone might come along with a cure????????????

Ratner: You're gay? I had no idea! (laughs)

McKellen: Well, there aren't many of us in Hollywood. (smiles) But there are people that think gay people can be cured. So my reaction to the idea that I can be cured as a mutant is as contemptuous as of those who think I need curing because of my sexuality. The idea that black people could take a pill that could cure them of being black is abhorrent to me. I'd like to hear of any character in this film who thinks that a cure is a good idea, but there are some. And they argue the case. It'll get you worked up, this movie, and so it should, because I don't think people should be cured of their god-given nature.

Ratner: And it was that idea alone that when I first met with Hugh is that the core of this idea is what I'm excited about, is why I think this script takes it to a whole new level. I don't know who came up with it, but the idea of the cure, I guess it goes back to the comics, obviously, but the idea of the cure in this film really helps make this third film miles ahead of the last two because every single character in this movie will have an opinion, will have a reason for it or against it and it motivates a lot of the plot. It's a fantastic device and concept, I think.

McKellen: And some people get cured and get changed, but of course we don't know with this cure being a new thing, how long it's going to last. Probably not as far as X-Men 4, I hope. (everyone laughs)

Halle, what about Storm's view on this?

Berry: Well, I echo everything Ian said. Being a black woman, a woman of colour, I think this is an issue I've struggled with my whole life. And I had a feeling that when I was a child if I could change myself, my life would be invariably better. As I've gotten older, I've come to terms with it in one sense and this movie adds light to that dark subject. So I echo everything Ian said.

Ratner: Storm, in my opinion, and I think Halle agrees is the most, one of the X-Men who is the most opposed to the use of the cure. And I think when you see the passion that these characters have for the subject matter, it totally motivates each individual's plight and their angst. Every scene in the movie is motivated by their opinions so it's wonderful, in my opinion.

Jackman: I'm going to be devil's advocate in my opinion because we have had ????????????????????????" the studio, everyone involved ????????????????????????" over certain characters who are offered the cure, and voluntarily some take it, some don't. I won't say which character because I don't want to give away the plot. But we just ????????????????????????" for example, were talking about someone like Rogue, right? Rogue, as amazingly powerful as she is, lives a potentially very lonely life, never being able to touch anyone, never being able to have a physical relationship, never being able to have children, to be married.

Now, as politically abhorrent as the cure is, it's also humanely, socially understandable that a character like that would take it. Now for Wolverine, he's not a political beast in any way shape or form. In the process of this movie I think he starts as someone having very little opinion about the cure, except for what it means for him. If you wanna take the cure, you take the cure. If you don't, whatever, I don't really give a ----. You do what you want to do; I?????????????
??????????????????????'????????????????'????? ????????????m gonna do what I wanna do. And he's forced in the course of this movie to actually work out what the cure is ????????????????????????" politically, socially ????????????????????????" and what his view on it is, because the cure ends up being the source of the battle that is going on. And which side you're on????????????you have to eventually take a side. And that's what's great about this story, for Wolverine.

McKellen: But you'd have to say on the matter of Rogue that it isn't necessarily her particular mutancy that's her problem, it's other people's reaction to it. And maybe it's society that's wrong, not her. And maybe the last thing you should do is to try and cure her. The first thing you should do is try and help her, if she wants it. And there are ways of helping people who are handicapped, rather than giving them extra limbs or forcing them to be what we think of as normal.

But that's the argument, one of the many arguments that's in this movie, along with all these amazing effects and great good humour that the characters somehow manage to have through thick and thin, and all the glamour of the story and all the bigness of it and I'm just very pleased that we can be certain that some young people ????????????????????????" and maybe older ones too ????????????????????????" that take comfort from this story because they think it's actually addressing thing that's important to them, even though it's in this fantastic world of ridiculous costumes and everything else. That, I guess is X-Men, and that's why I like it.

How are the costumes, this time around?

Ratner: They're the same, with some enhancements. They're pretty close to???????????? they're in the world. There are some new characters and they obviously have some new costumes, but otherwise. That's when I have to pinch myself, when I have all the X-Men in one room and they're in their X-suits and the villains????????????mostly the villains. I mean the X-suits don't go too far out, but the villains????????????when Magneto's in his cape and his helmet and the other character's in a helmet, I'm like, "This is so bizarre!" I stop for a second, but then I realize, you know what?

What's brilliant about this movie and this franchise is that it's all based in reality, and my approach to every scene is that this is really happening. It's important to me to capture the essence of that. And in the performance and in the decision of the sets, the props, every single choice informs that: real, real real. These are real characters, this is really happening. Because the audiences believe that, they wanna believe it, and we're creating the reality in that frame, and it's important that I do that, and that's the way I approach every scene.

And we figured out and we debated it. And we were here last night and we were figuring out that the nuance of how to throw a punch or take a step forward is all based in reality, and it's debated. Believe me, I have a lot of work on my plate because these actors definitely have an opinion, they're not just letting me create my own reality. They're saying, "You know what? Magneto wouldn't do that! Wait a second." Or I'll say, "Magneto would do that." But I have to give a reason why he would or wouldn't, so there's a lot of challenge and it's to better the performance and to better the movie, there's no egos involved.

Everyone wants to make a great film, it's the best bunch of actors I????'????????????????????
?????'?????????????????ve ever worked with, and they really care. It's important to them, from Pyro to Rogue, every person. And I call them by their names, not really by accident, because when I'm looking at them, I'm looking at Magneto and I really believe he's Magneto. And the same with Storm and Logan.

Is it easy to slip back into these roles this time round? Or is it always a challenge?

Jackman: Easier than the second. But there's always a moment. I said to Brett, the first week, "Let's just go through it. Can I just watch the monitor with you because????????????" And Brett was great at the beginning and it wasn't until our third day until I went (smacks fist on table) "There it is!" And I don't think all the stuff we did on the first three days was useless, but it took a few days, putting him back on for me.

Halle, can you tell us about flying?

Berry: Yes. Wirework, spinning, and I know it seems like a little thing, but I've been saying this since I started this movie: "I just wanna fly! Storm flies in the comic book and I've worn the cape for two movies now and never used it." It seems like a trivial thing, but it really is part of her power and what her mutation is and it's nice to be able to get to use that talent and that gift in a profound way that helps my fellow characters. I never got to really use the beauty of what Storm does. She used to fly a plane, but she never got to show what she could do. I love all the physical work that I get to do in these kinds of movies.

Ratner: And by the way we incorporate it into the storyline, it's not just, "Watch Storm fly now." It's part of the plot and we have Simon Crane ????????????????????????" who's one of the best second unit directors in the world ????????????????????????" and he's been shooting some of the most fantastic action sequences with these guys and I'll look at the dailies at the end of every day and I'll be shocked. I don't know why Halle actually does it, because no one's going to believe it's her anyway; they're going to be, "Oh, it's not her!" So why do you even waste your time? But there was this thing where Storm has to...it's an action piece, but she's up in the air, she's hovering and she literally to create a tornado effect, she actually spins. You're on a wire, or a rope or something, and she must have done, like, 87 turns from here to that wall. And then the camera stops and she's, like, "Wooah!"

Berry: And here's the thing. They say, "Okay, you're done, walk back to your trailer!" And I'm walking back, walking back????????????blecccch! (mimics vomiting) It's really embarrassing! (laughs)

Ratner: It's like, Jackie Chan does his own stunts, Halle Berry's doing her down stunts in this movie. And when I saw the scenes, the execution of it, Simon Crane's brilliance came in because all the action is not just action for action's sake; it's motivated by the plot. It's driving the story forward and it's showing off the powers of these characters. It's using the claws in a clever way to, you know, to jump down a building.

The same way Jackie Chan would use this in a fight, you know, this bottle of water, they're using his claws to break a fall and on metal, so there's sparks. It????????
??????????
?????????????'?????????????????s really thought out! It's not just, "Okay, let's have him swinging his claws around." It makes sense. And it's all motivated. And all the pieces are working. I'm really happy with all the action stuff. But the truth is, the heart of the movie is the fact that there's a small story within the big film. That's really the relationships between these characters. And that's why I love this film.

It sounds like you're taking a lot of story from Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men run. Are there any other comic sources or parts from other books that you're using in this movie?

Ratner: That's a trick question for me, because all I can tell you is if you ask me what comic book or number they refer to, I can't tell you that. But I can tell you that every single scene in this movie, Zak Penn and Simon Kinberg, who are fanatical X-Men fans, if I ask them, "Well, where the hell did you get this idea from?" he'll pull out X-Men 127 or he'll photocopy it for me. So in my office here, before I shot, I have every single????????????there's a reference of every single scene in this movie from a comic. And I thought some of it was made up, some of it.

And the execution of the script is so brilliant because I didn't understand that how they have a category in the Academy Awards for Screenplay and then???????????? what is it? Adapted Script from another piece of source material. That is the hardest thing to do. Because the complexity of taking something from a comic that exists and to put it into script form, where it works in the movie universe, is not an easy thing to do. That was an incredible education for me, to look at the scene the way it existed. For instance, with the cure in the comic and how it manifests itself in script form and then how I visualize it, it really informed my approach to it. Whether it be a detail of one frame of that comic that had something visual in it, it really helped me tell that story and I think they did a brilliant job of taking those references and if you ask me specifically which comic books, I can't tell you that, but to take it from the comic and put it into script form???????????? it's all credible. It's all from a comic.

Could you introduce us to the new actors, the new characters?

Ratner: Can I introduce them to you? They're not here right now. (looks to publicists) Well, am I allowed to? Yes? Juggernaut? I don't know; I had to sign, like a 100-page document before I walked in this room. Juggernaut, played by Vinnie Jones, is a fantastic character. Just a great actor and a great guy to be on the set with????????????

What is his involvement?

Ratner: In the story, you mean? Well, Juggernaut joins Magneto's crew. I won't tell you how, but Magneto picks him up along the way and he becomes part of the Magneto crew. And there's Kitty Pryde, who is an X-Man who had very small parts in the first two movies and then we decided in this version to expand that role and that's Ellen Page, who's a brilliant young actress who's mostly done independent films. She was in this brilliant film called Hard Candy coming out soon. She has a bunch of scenes, with everybody.

Beast, well, I can't take credit for casting Kelsey Grammer but I gotta tell you, now that he's put that costume on, I don't see another actor who could play that part better than him. Kelsey Grammer was probably born to play Beast and not Frasier. (laughs) This guy, his intelligence, just as a person, as an actor, his voice and the way he's personified. When I see Kelsey Grammer, I get freaked out because it's not him, he's Beast. He's been cured temporarily during the day. So he's fantastic. Who else?

Angel.

Ratner: Angel! Oh my god! That was such a hard thing. Every handsome, gorgeous young actor came in and wanted the part. Even Ed Norton, who I worked with on Red Dragon, called me and goes, "I wish I wasn't in China right now making a movie because I want to play Angel!" It's like everyone's favorite character. And for me the important thing was to get a great actor. In the comic it's kind of drawn as a beautiful, angelic ????????????????????????" makes sense ????????????????????????" guy, but I wanted to go for the guy who personified (him). Angel is a pretty tormented character.

One of the most powerful scenes in this movie is with Angel, I believe, and I wanted????????????I saw hundreds of actors and Ben Foster came in and stole the part. He was just, like, "I am this guy," and I believed him. He's done a fantastic job acting out the complexity of Angel, because you could have been safe and just had a beautiful young man who can spread his wings and fly, but there's more to that. These characters and these actors have a lot of dimension and you need an actor that can bring that dimension to the role and Ben Foster definitely did it. He's worked out harder than??????
??????????????????????this guy's like De Niro in Raging Bull except this guy worked out like 12 hours a day and his body is just liked transformed. They're heavy wings ????????????????????????" you can't just be a skinny little Jewish kid and carry them on your back ????????????????????????" you've got to have some muscle. You have to put some mass on. So he's devoted to the part.

Hugh, Ian and Halle, you've been in this series all along, you've worked up the chemistry you have with each. What's it like when new people like Kelsey come along?

Jackman: Ah, it's fantastic. I did a little phone interview today and someone said, "All the cast are back, it's really unusual," and I said, "Yeah, I suppose it is, especially considering no one had to come back." It's not contractual that anyone had to come back; everyone wanted to be here. Because, as Ian was saying, we're all proud of it. I'm incredibly proud of what had been created in X1 and 2 and I think X1 forged the way for comic book movies.

You guys probably know better than me, but it seems like it broke new ground and has really laid the groundwork for Spider-Man, Batman, etc., which has come along. And it was done by making a character-based movie. So it's an ensemble piece, every character matters, and the relationships matter and we're all actors who love working with actors.

When I first auditioned and there was Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart????????????.I was a student of theatre, so for me it was like De Niro and Pacino. You've gotta be kidding me. And Halle Berry and Anna Paquin, all these people, it was amazing. And so there's certainly no sense of, "We're the club and the new people come in." We're incredible lucky to have a series that's successful that great actors wanna come on board and great actors auditioning and not even getting parts! Really, we're very lucky and every actor that comes on board, I don't think they feel ostracised. I hope not. Although Wolverine gives them ----! (laughs)

Ratner: It's exciting for me. Yesterday, for instance, Ian ????????????????????????" Magneto and Beast had their first scene together ????????????????????????" and I didn't realize that. I've seen a lot of Beast, a lot of Ian, and then all of a sudden they see each other and it's like, "Hello!" And it's so exciting because they've never been together before, so every day is a new day on this movie. It's fun for me watching it. When you're in love with a girl and you can't wait to tell her about your day, it's like I can't wait to get to the set to direct these actors. So for me it's like a dream come true.

This one will be the best X-men movie ever. The 1st 2 were good but the 3rd one will be the most excited one. X3: The Last Stand and Superman Returns will be both great movies. It will be very hard for one of them to be the next #1 superhero movie ever because they both look very good. I think Superman Returns deserves be the #1 superhero movie ever because Superman was the every 1st superhero to be created in 1938 and he is the father of all superheroes from DC and Marvel. Superman, Batman, and Wander-Woman are the main leaders of JLA (DC Universe) and Captain American and Spiderman are the main leaders of the Avengers (Marvel Universe).

Professor Charles Xavier and Logan/Wolverine rock!!! :D

Well they've released a new trailer.

X-men 3: The Last Stand-Trailer-2 (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/tls/trailer/large.html)

They have also plastered everything with "The Last Stand" subtitle. After watching this trailer the film has gone up a few notches for me. I'm actually really looking forward to this film. I still hate the whole thing with Scott though 8( And Juggernaut's helmet still looks SOOOOOOO bad! But other than that.........

Ok here are all screen caps http://xmenfilms.net/media1/album/index.html

and what they are saying its most of it
President: On principle I can’t negotiate with these people.
Unknown 1: Well then you know what needs to be done.
Unknown 2: We got to protect our citizens.
Magneto: Make no mistake, my brothers. That humans will draw first blood [and the air is still and the night has fallen. ? ? ? ? Who will you stand with?]
Beast: A native pharmaceutical company has developed a way to suppress the mutant X-genes permanently. They’re calling it a cure.
Storm: There’s nothing to cure. Nothing’s wrong with anyone of us for that matter.
Professor X: You of all people know how fast the weather can change.
Magneto: Did you find what you were looking for?
Mystique: The source of the cure is a mutant.
Callisto: More powerful than you.
Storm: Logan!
Wolverine: Jean.
Professor X: Something woke her but she has to be controlled
Wolverine: Sometimes when you cage the beast,
Angel: I can’t do this.
Wolverine: The beast gets angry.
Professor X: You have no idea.
Unknown 3: You have no idea what is upon us now.
Magneto: Fury that this world has never witnessed.
Wolverine: Magneto has got an army out there. You got a war you might not come home. She might not come home, you ready for that?
Iceman : We’re not kids anymore
Wolverine: Hey I’m not your father. If you wanna go, be sure it’s what you want.
Storm: It’s time we make our choice. If you’re with us then be with us.
Magneto: They wish to cure us, but I say we are the cure.
Wolverine: Look at me jean. We can help you. We can fix it. We can make it like what it was. Stay with me!
Jean: Please….Kill me.

Love the ending to it with Jean saying that line

No it wasn't Spyke it was Quill. As far as the Iceman thing...Yeah he goes through an affair with Kitty (which I don't understand) I guess it's there to add some drama (like they don't have enough with the biggest battles!)

Yea, it seems they are adding some elements of the Ultimate Universe of X-men into the story. As far as I know that is the only place where Iceman and Kitty date or see each other. This is true moreso in respects to Colussus' bi-sexuality however in Ultimate X-men he is gay.

I'm going to go see it, but some of the deviations from the comic book are beginning to get me upset. They've been like that since the first film, but they just seem to grow in numbers with every film.

I like the addition of Beast, but I hate that they are killing off Cyclops and Mystique.

I'm glad the Bobby/Rogue thing is having troubles though. Maybe if they make another film they can bring in Gambit! and put Kitty with Colussus!! That would make me really happy!

Can I just say that Dark Pheonix kicks butt!

Two of them show Cylclops at a location other than Alkali Lake, which is where he supposedly dies, and where Wolverine finds his floating sunglasses.
He's actually at the X-Mansion... which seems to contradict the entire story of Wolverine going after Cyke who's already at the lake...

Even more telling is that they're promoting him as a major character, with lots of photos of him in his uniform, which he technically should not be wearing at any time in the movie, according to this "spoiler" timeline.

And remember, this "spoiler guy" didn't tell us anything about the climax of the film. I'm guessing that Cyke "supposedly" dies, but re-appears at the end, halting Jean's rampage.

Last of all, how could they get rid of the Jean/Scott story? They've been soulmates in every single version of the X-Men. In fact, Scott was instrumental in helping Jean with the Phoenix Force, which would be great in this particular storyline...

Oh, and on a side note, I don't care if Kitty's young-looking. She's a heckuva lot prettier than Rogue...

Guys, he dies. Deal with it! The pictures of him are in the same costume! All of them! The one where he is sitting on his bed shows him in depression (over Jean's death) The second one with Logan is right before he leaves the mansion (Notice the larger bike jacket? And maybe a bag?)

Then all of the other pictures and clips put him at the Lake (place of his death) He finds Jean and she obviously goes psycho frying him. Sometime after that while Storm and Wolverine look for him they find Jean (probably after Wolverine finds Scott's sunglasses levitating)

As far as them "heavily promoting" him. They have to in order to keep the supposed "surprise" (nothing is safe on the internet) a surprise. If you'll notice that costume is from the second film (same with the visor) All of the other original X-men have distinct make overs to their costumes this time around. The only reason they have him on the poster is to make more money by producing tons of posters and also like I said keep the "surprise"

Also if you don't want to take that into consideration then consider this, James Marsden was done filming with them like in two weeks or so (no way does he have more than 20 to 30 minutes in the film, if that!) Also if you've been keeping track of the movie's progress, he hasn't been to any of the promo interviews and hasn't been placed at any of the sets.

And one more little piece of information that sets it all in stone. James Marsden has been filming "Superman Returns" the whole time the rest of the cast has been filming X-3.

So there you have it my rant on why Scott dies.

So yeah.....I'll take that bet Pink.

Besides that, it doesn't matter which pictures they reveal. The studios choose which pictures to release. Obviously they're not showing anything from the final battle, where I'm guessing he returns, halting Jean's rampage.

But if I'm right, and he does return, then he'll still only be in a few scenes anyway.

Once again, I say:
How can they get rid of the Cyclops/Jean relationship? It's been at the heart of the X-Men since the comic-book's creation in 1963.
Furthermore, Jean's love for Scott was perhaps the biggest factor in keeping her sane during all the Dark Phoenix storylines. Original X-Men, Ultimate X-Men, and X-Men: The Animated Series all had the Scott/Jean romance as the emotional center of the whole storyline.

So the movies are just going to throw all this out the window? They're going to kill off Cyclops? I can perhaps understand Mystique's death; she's very different than her comic-book counterpart. In the movies, she's really just a servant to Magneto, nothing more. Cyclops, while an unexplored character, has so much more potential, especially with the Phoenix storyline.
How could they kill off Cyclops just when he's needed? Do they plan to kill Jean as well?

I think we need some more Comic-Book readers here. HSB or Deka~Crimson, if you're reading this, what are your thoughts?

Hahaha, I've been requested, i got your back Nightwing.

Ok, my comic-book knowledge is pretty much on the mainstream level except for when it comes to the Ultimate line from Marvel. I've been following that since its inception.

Nonethelless, i know all about the Scott and Jean dynamic as it was heavily emphasised in the cartoon as well. I really can't see the movie getting rid of that which makes me question the credibility of this massive spoiler found on the first page.

However, the Scott and Jean dynamic is heavily unexplored in Ult. X-men, just like it is in the movie. If the movie is following the Ultimate comic (very loosely) then maybe Scott will get killed off. What makes me say that is the bi-sexual Colussus being announced in the movie, since Colussus is gay in the comics (a slight deviation, but a deviation nonetheless)

He fell off a cliff and almost died, but he was found by Magneto's goons and brought back to health (for reasons I don't want to explain...).

If I remember correctly, right after that the Scott/Jean relationship took off. Then again, my memory of what happened after Cyclops' rescue is fuzzy... the comic just got so bad! lol!

Yea, I felt like the comic got really bad too!! Particularly because of constant changing with creative teams. The art and stories really got bad after Cyclops was rescued. I honestly feel like it got worst and never returned in the summer of 2004 after the Sinister saga. Ever since then, there hasn't been a good story.

But you are right, Cyclops doesn't die, but even still the connection between him and Jean doesn't really go anywhere. Its very clunky and it actually is shown in s sort of infancy in the latest issue with Jean wanting Scott to be more "daring"

So again, I still say its possible that Summers bites the bullet.

Anyway I think Cyclops still is in a different universe or some crap...i'm clinging to a bit of hope that maybe he's still alive as well as xavier...maybe not xavier but I dont know. I just hate the fact they're not going with the flow of the comics.

They can't kill off the leader of the X-Men...
They did it once in the comics, only to revive him years later.

This is too many killings. There's no way it can be right. If the story does go this way, then the X-men will be totally different. Magneto will probably change his ways and become the leader of the X-Men (which did happen in the comic books), which will change everything.

Homan, It would be awesome of they could add in Psylocke.

They did add her. Check back to my first post and you will see a picture will Callisto, Stacy-X and Psylocke (on the right)

As for you Nightwing....Just because you don't agree with what I was saying doesn't mean you have to ----- slap me by saying I'm not a comic reader. Dude, I read X-men and all of its branch-offs from 1993? (Jim Lee's relaunch) until 2001 or 2002. So I have to say I'm definitely a little overqualified when it comes to anything related to X.

I can understand what you are saying about Scott playing a pivotal role in helping Jean come off of her Phoenix high, but this is the movies they can do whatever they damn well please. Especially since we've already seen that the supposed "Phoenix" in this movie so far just looks like Jean on super strength (not a cosmic entity) So already there we have a major difference in how it will be portrayed.

And as we've seen Scott is already pretty much treated like the movie equivalent of dog crap in the movie verse, so killing him off would not be much of a stretch.

Wolverine's costume is now gold, just one of the new costume tweaks that "didn't" exist (if you want I will provide pictures for reference)

As far as Xavier dying I don't think so. But the thing with Cyke is assured, no matter what anyone "wants" to believe 8)

And yeah, Kitty is way too young. I would have stuck with the actress they had in the first one (I think it was the first one)

Sorry for the rant. I just had to clear that up.

Oh, and Cyke's suit was blue in the last one. Now it's black.

Well I guess it's me who should be apologizing (about the costumes) the entire cast from X2 wears their costumes from the end of the movie in X3. Well except for Iceman, which sucks because he had the coolest costume, with the huge white X's coming down over his shoulders.

Technically Scott didn't have a blue "suit" only his belt buckle was blue. And since you can't see that far on the poster we won't know if the costume makes it's return. Although Jean towards the end has red lining and a red belt buckle on her suit (pretty far a head planning eh?) and that is how they find her in the beginning of X3 at the lake.

I could have sworn Logan's suit was black in X2 but I guess it was gold and I just never noticed. So you have one up on me :023:

Hmm. I guess I was misguided by early publicity photos (and my action figure :D) which show Cyke's suite with blue piping.

As for the movie, i'm fine with all these characters dying as long as they don't make a fourth one, in my opinion, these deaths make the movie much more dramatic. I was kinda hoping they would do one with Apocalypse but o well, this sounds awsome anyways!

nightcrawler isn't in this because alan cumming wasn't contractually obligated and decided not to do it, I'm sure they would have put him in here had he wanted to be a part of it. (If bryan singer hadn't of left he probably would be a part of it). Brett Ratner last i heard hinted that they might do a fourth one because he said they cut out the gambit cameo so they could save him for "the next one and do him justice", but that could have changed by now. It sounds like it has according to the title. i really would like them to do a movie with Gambit in it before they end the movie series though.

There are so many other awesome mutants that I would love to see brought to life on the screen, i wish they could use them all.
