    Legacy of Power

    LEGACY OF POWER

    Setting: United States, 2020

High Commander Kruz of the imperial fleet is a conqueror of worlds. He is completely ruthless, unrelenting, and remorseless wholly obsessed with the idea of uniting the universe under one empire: His. Kruz has traveled the stars and won wars the like of which we have never seen. And now he's turned his avaricious gaze toward the third planet in our solar system: Earth.

April 3rd… prime time broadcasts across the globe just stopped. The screens went blank. Citizens of every nation flipped through their channels hoping it was just a problem with the cable. When that didn't work they called their cable provider. No one had any idea what was going on. No one knew how to fix it. Suddenly a high-pitched frequency would begin to emit from the television set. It would get louder and louder and louder. People tried to turn off their sets. It didn't work. They tried to unplug their televisions. But, the sound kept getting louder and louder, and then... it just stopped. Everyone stared at their receivers in fearful anticipation. Slowly, the picture began to fade in again. Sitting upon an illustrious throne with an evil smirk playing on his lips was Commander Kruz. He stepped his fingers and addressed not just the people of America, or England or Japan, but the citizen of every nation on the planet.

"Occupants of Earth. I am High Commander Kruz of the Imperial Fleet. I have seized control of your airwaves to deliver a message of the most significant kind. Approximately one earth year from this day my ships will touch down upon your planet. Our intentions are simple: to make your world... ours. The majority of your species will be exterminated. The rest will be enslaved. Resistance is futile. As a show of strength and severity our advanced fleet is about to strike one of the most impenetrable buildings on your planet. Occupants of Earth, thank you for your time. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program." And just like that, Kruz was gone. Thirty seconds later, The Pentagon was completely destroyed. The act of intergalactic terrorism killed 33,156 men, women, and children. In the following hours people panicked. Americans especially with the loss life being so complete and total. The President met with what was left of the DOD, the NSC, the NSA, CIA, and FBI. He then met with the world leaders at the UN and then he met with NASA. Penultimately, he gave an address. "My fellow Americans. My fellow citizens of the world. Twenty-four hours ago, an act of vile, reprehensible terrorism was committed upon these United States. But, not only was it an act of terrorism. It was an act of war! And not just against these United States, but against the world. These are unprecedented times. A deadline of apocalyptic proportions hangs over our heads like the Sword of Damocles. Commander Kruz says that resistance is futile. You all heard him. But, this is our home! Ours and no one else's! If High Commander Kruz just expected us to wait in line as he slaughters an entire planet of people, he's got another thing coming. We’re going to war! All of us. There's no escaping it. Nations are going to stand side by side and fight together. As one. All past grievances are forgotten. All differences are cast aside. Together we are going to fight! Together we are going to defend our planet. Together we are going to win!"

After that address every nation started preparing for a war... as one. The leaders in science and weaponry got together to improve weapons. The United States along with Japan, China, The United Kingdom and many others started a program. A program to equip the world's best soldiers with exoskeleton suits to aid in the fight. A program to fight the one foe that no one nation could fight alone. A program called the United World Resistance. This program would assemble all of the greatest minds and powers in Ranger history and use this to take the fight to the Imperial Fleet.

    United World Resistance

    United World Resistance Director

Dr. Tommy Oliver – After witnessing the destruction that High Commander Kruz was capable of Tommy realized how high the stakes truly were. At the first United Nations Resistance Conference, Tommy revealed himself to the world as one of the world’s original power rangers. He offered his vast experience as a Ranger to the UN. It was after realizing how important Dr. Oliver’s experience is did they unanimously vote to make him the head of the newly founded UWR.

    Tech Specialist

Billy Cranston – Soon after taking over the UWR, Tommy Oliver made a call to his old friend. Billy has spent the last couple of decades on Aquitar. Billy and Cestria have started a family and have lived happily since his arrival. Which is why he is reluctant to return to Earth. But, after Tommy has explained how severe the matter is, Billy decides he cannot sit idly by while his former home and friends are in danger.

Angela Fairweather-Rawlings – Angela has continued to work her way in engineering since the Lightspeed Rescue team has disbanded. Originally, she takes exception to being Billy’s subordinate considering she has an actual doctorate and believes Billy’s appointment to be that of nepotism.

Alpha X - Billy builds a brand new alpha unit mainly out of nostalgia, but also because the Alpha unit helps him work more efficiently.

    Lead Medical Physician

Dana Mitchell – Now a mother of three young children, Dana Mitchell has no interest in returning to the field as Power Ranger. She realizes however that she could be of use to the United World Resistance in other ways. She accepts the role of Lead Medical Physician for the American branch.

Free spots – Multiple spots are still open for players.

    Villains

High Commander Kruz – Kruz has been hell bent on universal unification for centuries now. One might say he was bred for it. He comes from a race of people who thrive on chaos and enjoys war. Their planet is what’s called a gladiator planet and Kruz is the strongest of them all. He achieved the position of High Commander by killing his way to the top garnering a mixture of fear and admiration along the way.

General Uri - General Uri has been one of Kruz’s most loyal followers since his leader’s rise. One of the only remaining beings who’ve been there since the beginning. Uri rose through the ranks with Kruz all the while watching his back.

Lieutenant Omni – Newly promoted to his role of lieutenant, Omni has grand aspirations. He’s been described by his peers as avaricious and cut throat. By his superiors he’s known as a prodigy and there are many within the Imperial Fleet who believe Omni to be the heir that will one day ascend to the rank of High Commander.

Imperial Guard – Each member of the Imperial Guard has been trained to be a part of this elite unit of warriors since birth. Their destiny is predetermined before conception. There is a process in the Imperial Fleet where the strongest warrior from each gender are paired together in arranged marriages. The goal of this coupling is to breed the strongest warriors possible. From the moment they are first able to walk Imperial Guard only know one thing: War.

    United World Resistance Guidelines

    1. Your character must be a relative of a former Power Ranger. All Rangers are open to be related to, except for SPD since the game is set before Space Patrol Delta is founded.
    2. No Unfinished bios please!
    3. Post regularly (once or twice a week) and no one liners. If something comes up, all we ask is for a little courtesy and let everyone know. That includes everybody, so I’d like you guys to hold the GMs to the same standards.
    4. Relationships, close friendships, bonds of any kind are definitely encouraged. This game will be the most character driven game ever done so that kind of chemistry would only make this better!
    5. Have fun you crazies! And may the power protect you!

    United World Resistance Application

    Name:

    Age:

    Ranger Designation:

    Appearance:

Personality: (We ask you to seriously think about character flaws. These flaws ideally are detrimental in some way and aren't just secretly strengths)

History: (Be sure to mention the relation to the former Ranger or Rangers you have)

While you don't necessarily have to mention it in the bio, be sure to think about things like:
Why did the UWR accept you?
Why did you join the UWR?
How do you think your character will think and get along with the other characters?
How did your character deal with Kruz's threat?

***NOTE*** – by White Ranger Power

I plan for this to be the most character driven RPG ever created on this board. With that said, that means this game will also be the most ambitious one ever attempted.

It is my dream that should this game get off the ground and continue pass the initial stages that this will be an amazing display of storytelling. I believe that Power Rangers is more than capable of that. Power Rangers should be a mix of comedy and drama and sacrifice and grief and heartbreak and triumph. It should be a show of teamwork, overcoming your fears and inner demons, and family. I believe that PR should have created the Marvel style before Marvel ever got there. So, that’s exactly what I plan on interjecting into this RPG.

I hope that some of you will take that to heart and join me in my journey to not only create an awesome RPG, but also to create an awesome Power Ranger product that we as well as other fans could be proud of because quite honestly… the Power Ranger fandom deserves it.

    Name: Missy Myers-Earhardt

    Age: 23

    Ranger Designation: Quantum Ranger

    Appearance:

Missy was born with predominately blonde hair, and slight brunette streaks. A product of both of her parents genetics. But, the first thing that you may notice are her startling icy blue eyes. Often times you’ll find her using them to her advantage to win stare downs.

Personality: Missy has been known to be high-strung and rigid. Ever since she was born, the pressure on her to be perfect has been there. From her parents, from society, but perhaps even more so from herself. She’s fiercely competitive and intelligent and deliberate and never enters a situation with a back up plan to the back up plan. And she hates taking a back seat and usually takes command of every situation.

Fake it till you make it, right? While her upbringing has allowed Missy to project confidence, she’s actually full of insecurities. Missy is afraid that she won’t live up to her parents legacy, but her biggest fear in general is that she’s not good enough. That thought dominates her thoughts daily. When she’s with her family, her friends. In class, at the gym… everywhere. Her fatal flaw is her desperation to prove to everyone that she is. To prove to herself that she’s good enough. Which has led to displaying some symptoms of narcissism. She seeks the spotlight, mirrors, and admiration and can become preoccupied with fantasies of success. These qualities lead to her having an inability to directly relate to other people. So while on paper she may seem like the perfect leader, these flaws plague her and gives her a steep mountain to climb.

History: If you haven’t figured it out by now, Missy is the child of former Quantum Ranger Eric Myers and former yellow Wild Force Ranger, Taylor Earhardt. Two of the most commanding and hardest working rangers ever. Both also possessing type A personalities. As you could imagine, growing up with Taylor and Eric as parents led to a very regimented household. From the time, she could walk, Missy would be enrolled in activities and groomed for the duty of power ranger.

High school was particularly hard for Missy. She excelled at everything she tried. Class president, captain of the girls volleyball team, she even knocked down gender barriers by becoming the first girl in school history to make the football team. Mid-way through her junior year, Missy developed an eating disorder. After months and months of it going unchecked, finally her parents discovered what was going on. She missed some school, but in all of the misery she found a therapist she was quite fond of. This therapist helped Missy learn to manage the stress and helped her get on the right path.

After high school, Missy joined the silver guardians where she cut her teeth as a top cadet. Proficient in battle strategy and hand to hand combat. On her 21st birthday, her parents gave her a very special gift. Eric called it, “her birthright.”

Why has the UWR accepted Missy’s application: The UWR has called Missy the ideal candidate for the ranger resistance. Top of her class in every category, brilliant strategist, motivated to prove herself, and comfortable in a military structure. Missy sees the threat to earth as her perfect opportunity to prove herself worthy in the eyes of her parents as well as herself.

Missy will push herself to the limits during the crisis and she expects the same from the rest of her team. Anything less than perfection will be a major negative in her eyes.

    Name:
    Laila Rocca

    Age:
    24

    Ranger Designation:
    Jungle Fury Rhino Ranger

    Appearance:
Laila is a good looking woman. The first thing that draws attention are her large brown eyes. Her face is well proportioned and her somewhat pale skin is smooth. A hint of freckles adorns her mildly pronounced cheekbones.

Though she is not able to rain down fiery hell upon her enemies, she did inherit some magical ability from her mother. While she can do some cantrips, she mainly uses it, or abuses it as some might say, to alter her appearance, mainly her hair, dabbling in changing her eye color from time to time as well. She usually has black hair, though she couldn’t tell you whether that was her original natural hair color. She goes from a short hairdo one day, to hair down to her waist the next.

    Personality:
Laila is, more than anything, defiant. She does not like authority, and the main reason she’s willing to fight the invaders is that she doesn’t want to fall under any such ruler. She’s hardly an anarchist. In fact, she’s got a sense of justice, mostly morally. She just doesn’t want some boss character directly telling her how she should do things, and with a supreme intergalactic ruler, that might very well be the case. It does also make her a poor fit in the structure of the United World Resistance though.

She tends to charge into battle. She’ll recognize a pinch when she’s in one, but she rarely strategizes beforehand and tends to pride herself on dealing the first blow. She is that way in social conduct as well, being honest with her friends and teammates, sometimes brutaly so and often in a sarcastic manner.

    History:
Dominic Hargan, having been sent away by Master Mao, was travelling through the United States to find his path in life. He happened upon the town of Briartown, where celebration was still going after having defeated Octomus the Master.

It was quite the party, and the morning after the third day of partying, Dominic and Vida Rocca found themselves waking up in the same bed. An awkward breakfast later, Dominic left, and soon after left town entirely to continue his journey.

Some nine months later, Laila was born. Vida had tried to contact Dominic, but his travels made it hard to track him down, especially with a small child fully relying on you. Nevertheless, Laila had a happy early childhood.

Vida taught her daughter some basic magic spells to make life easy and fun. When Laila was 7 years old, she was playing hide and seek outside. One of the moms of the other kids was supervising, so Vida could have a little time off, which all parents need from time to time. Laila, who knew perfectly well she wasn’t supposed to go there, was going closer and closer to the magical forest the longer they were playing. The other kids didn’t dare go there, so she was at quite the advantage and was rarely found. Lucky for her, the mom wasn’t paying attention.

The sixth time the kids ran everywhere to go hide, Laila actually went into the forest. Not far, as it was quite scary, but Laila felt pretty brave. She found a wooden box, perfect to hide in, laying behind a tree. She climbed in. The lid suddenly shut closed.

Vida, who had been looking up information on Dominic for the first time in years, came back a few minutes later. She had finally found something. He had been a Jungle Fury Ranger and was currently travelling through Europe, the people at the Jungle Karma Pizza place had told her. They knew how to contact him. She couldn’t wait to tell Laila, who had asked about her dad quite a few times, but decided to at least let her finish her game.

Twenty minutes later, all kids but Laila had been found. They started calling out the game was over and she could come back, but they got no reply. Laila was not coming back. Vida asked the other mom whether she had any idea where Laila went to hide. The mom had no idea, clearly not having paid much attention. Vida was fuming. As she feared, one of the other kids had said Laila was always hiding near the forest. She might have gone in this time.

A search commenced and soon Madison, Vida’s sister, had noticed a box which might well hold a child. She had tried to open it, but it wouldn’t budge. She soon realized it was magical and warned Vida. A bit of investigation concluded small shoeprints had gone to the box, but never back out. They tried a lot of things, but the box would not open and couldn’t even be damaged. Panicking, Vida reached out to Jungle Karma Pizza once more. RJ immediatly contacted Dominic to explain the whole story.

Within a day Dominic arrived in Briartown once more, this time with Fran. It all felt hopeless though, as the magical box wouldn’t even open by magic, much less non-magical means.

Another day went by and Dominic was getting frustrated. Knowing full well the box was completely resistant to physical violence, he slammed it with his Rhino Blade. Completely by surprise, the boosted power of the gauntlet and the backing of the Animal Spirit shattered the box. Even more surprising was that it revealed a 19 year old woman.

The time inside the box had moved much faster than outside. Laila had barely noticed she was caught. Shortly after the lid had closed, she had been able to open the box on the other side. Or, at least, it seemed that way. She had noticed everything suddenly seemed mirrored. Everything else seemed normal though, and after a few months she had just accepted it. Time moved on. The last few days, however, possibly in line with the shattering of the box, it had turned out everyone she knew was some kind of weird magical spirit monster masquerading as friends and family. She had hid in the forest, somewhere she hadn’t been since the box incident. She had curled up at, what turned out to be, the exact spot the box had been, only to find out she’d never left the box and it had been al some kind of magical nightmare.

In order to work through the events, Laila went with Dominic for a year. She came out stronger, not only mentally, but also physically, as she was trained by her long lost father. Afterwards, she returned to Brairtown, where her dad would still often visit, and she would meet him at times as well.

And then Commander Kruz announced his presence to the world, accompanied by a threat to the future. Laila wasn’t going to just sit idly by and let some intergalactic asshole take over her planet. She didn’t need anyone telling her what to do, and she’d be surprised if this jackass was going to let everyone just lead their merry lives. With that in mind, she applied to the UWR.

    Name: Kea
    Age: 19
    Ranger Designation: Red Astro Ranger
Appearance: This face but with this hair.

Hey, you find me a decent picture of Suzee from Space Cases and we'll talk. This took me three days.

Personality: Kea is fiercely independent, used to going her own way and damning the consequences. She's not opposed to working with other people, she just finds it super unnecessary 99% of the time. Kea takes after her Uncle Zhane more than she does either of her parents. She's rebellious, confident, and she chooses not to respect anyone until they've earned that respect. She's always ready with a quip or a joke to diffuse tension.

People tend to like Kea, but despite her uncle's influence she is very much her father's daughter when it comes to trust or making friends. She has people skills, but she'd argue the point vehemently if you said so. While people recognize her skills and determination, it takes a lot for Kea to truly open up to anyone, instead choosing to spend most of her life hiding behind jokes and sarcasm rather than make herself vulnerable for even an instant.

Kea's battle technique can be succinctly described as laser-focused. She's maybe not the best one to send out to fight Putties or Cogs or whatever, as multiple opponents can be quickly overwhelming for her, but send Kea against one stronger opponent and she can quickly ferret out her foe's weak point and hit it with everything she has.

History: After Dark Specter was finally defeated and the universe was saved, the Astro Rangers began their new mission - seeking out Zordon's hidden caches of powerful weapons and magical items he'd stashed across the universe and keeping them out of the hands of the villains not destroyed by Zordon's final sacrifice. The Astro Megaship was converted into a museum on Earth, and later returned to space under the command of the Galaxy Rangers, but Andros received a gift - a rebuilt Delta Megaship, provided by the rebels of KO-35. Also provided by the rebels of KO-35 - a love interest for Andros, because I (Question) am choosing to not acknowledge the stupid Ashley/Andros thing I bet you forgot happened at the end of PRiS. Abaco was a scientist, and in fact the designer of both the Mega Winger and the new Delta Megaship. Andros was enamored, and the two spent many a night discussing either Andros' adventures in space or Abaco's adventures reading scientific texts. That wasn't sarcasm, Andros loved their time together.

Eventually, the two were wed, and little Kea was born. Probably space magic; I refuse to believe Andros ever had sex. Kea was a rambunctious soul. Somehow, she took after neither her brooding father nor her bookworm mother. Instead, she took the very most after her Uncle Zhane, a fact that caused her parents no end of consternation. Zhane took great glee in teaching his goddaughter (because of course) how to cause her parents the most frustration while never actually breaking any of their rules. She'd be told to get dressed for breakfast, and she would dress in a Mercurian funeral robe. She'd be told to clean her room, and she would neatly organize what were still technically piles of junk in her quarters. She'd be told to study, and she would study... well, let's just say publications that aren't fully appropriate for children.

You know what Kea kind of hated though? Her father would leave home, often for months at a time, because of the Astro Rangers' mission. Kea never understood why; their mission was entirely optional, no one had assigned it to them, so why was she basically fatherless for the majority of her childhood? As she got old enough to be told bits and pieces of her father's Ranger life, she had further problems - the Astro Rangers were securing Zordon's legacy artifacts and just... hiding them away. Just like Zordon did. Why were such powerful weapons and magic being taken away when they could be used to help people who needed help? Not every planet with supervillains had a team of Power Rangers to protect it, after all.

Rebel that she was (thanks Zhane!), Kea hatched a plan to both irritate her parents and help those who needed help. Though hardly a scientist on the level of her mother or that guy who married the fish lady or whatever, Kea was certainly smart enough to sneak aboard the Delta Megaship during one of her father's brief visits home. She was smart enough to hack its systems and activate the ship's hyperdrive. She was smart enough to disable the Delta Megaship's tracking systems. And she was smart enough to make sure that, while her father was asleep in their home, she remembered to take his Astro Morpher so there was no chance he could follow the Delta Megaship into the depths of space. Kea felt very little guilt about stealing the ship and morpher; to the best of her knowledge, Andros had morphed like four times total since defeating Dark Specter, and the Delta Megaship couldn't even transform into Megazord mode without a battilizer, which she did not have.

Kea spent the next few years basically alone in space. She hunted the same caches Andros and the Astro Rangers had looked for, but instead of hiding them away, she brought them to where she felt they were most needed to defend the weak and helpless from the forces that threatened them. A lot of the time, the people she was trying to help decided to not trust her for whatever stupid reason, to which she would reply by casually showing them the red Astro Morpher and claiming to be one of the Astro Rangers. There was one snag here, however; Kea didn't know the morpher's passcode, and thus could not morph.

Kea became even more self reliant over this time, as well as more than ever convinced that she was doing the right thing. She knew enough to know her parents weren't being willfully bad or whatever, they were just falling into the rhetorical trap of trying to protect Zordon's swag instead of using it for what it was meant to be used for - defense.

High Commander Kruz changed Kea's life course, however. His transmission also reached the Delta Megaship, and she saw the devastation he ordered for Earth. She'd never set foot on the planet, and frankly had never really seen the appeal, but she still felt for the thirty-three thousand deaths he'd ordered before his fleet had even hit orbit. The Delta Megaship was between Kruz and Earth, and despite her ship's inability to transform, and despite the morpher that she couldn't goddamn use, Kea knew that she had to do whatever she could to stop Kruz from reaching Earth, stop him from killing even more people. It's what her father would have done, and more importantly, it's what Kea knew the right thing to do was.

Why has the UWR accepted Kea's application: She has a morpher and a ship I guess.
